In Their Own Words / Megan - Ritual Intimates | Ohio Boudoir Studio

Updated: May 23

This is the story of one of our lovely clients, Megan, shared in her own words. Unfiltered & familiar feelings to many who’ve stepped into Ritual Intimates, unsure if they belong in art - only to find they’ve been home all along.

“For a long time I’ve admired boudoir photos but never thought I was ‘pretty enough’ or ‘sexy enough’ or ‘that kind of girl’ (whatever that means lol). But I went through a lot of stuff a year and a half ago and I decided I needed to do something just for me… something out of my comfort zone that might give me back a little self-confidence. That’s what led me to Maddie and her art.”

It’s not unusual to walk in wanting to feel one way - safe, soft, worthy - and to arrive with a heart full of nerves.

“I was shaking like a leaf and didn’t know if this was actually me or fit me. Which is ridiculous. People aren’t meant to ‘fit’ things.”

But the thing about this space is it meets you exactly where you are. Conversation becomes connection. And somewhere between outfit changes, shutter clicks, and great vibes - the shift is natural.

“The first shift was during hair and makeup. Aly and Maddie chatted away like the friends they are and managed to naturally include me, which was amazing. The second shift was probably during outfit #2. I just remember thinking, ‘Wow, I am so comfortable here.’”

If you could describe your session as a mood, color, or piece of music, what would it be?

  • Full session #1: The Night We Met by Lord Huron. Transformational. Shedding. Regrowth.

  • Outdoor mini: Shades of green and blue. Adventurous. Refreshing.

  • Neon shower mini: Healing. Edgy. Outside the comfort zone, but worth it.

  • Full session #2: Like prisms of sunlight scattered across the floor. Magic in the ordinary.

How has seeing yourself through these images changed the way you experience yourself day to day?

“THIS is how people see me? That’s HOT”. This is normally what I think when I look through my photos. I am hot, I am strong, I am open minded. And I don’t know if I would’ve ever had these thoughts without this experience.

Embodiment isn’t about performance - it’s about coming home to yourself.

“It filled some part of my being that I didn’t even know was empty…with so much love and appreciation for myself and others. They represent where I was in my life when the photos were taken and that no matter what was happening, I still had myself and kept connecting with her for that moment in time.

And if you’re standing on the edge of this experience, unsure, curious, wondering if this is meant for someone like you - she offers this:

“Trust the process and believe in yourself. You’ll be rewarded in more ways than you could’ve imagined.” ~ Megan <3
